An accessory set of landing gear wheels with weighted tires and hubcaps for models of the Consolidated B-24 Liberator bomber and of the naval patrol version PB4Y Privateer in 1:144 scale. The tires have a cross pattern on the tread. It is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory to an existing kit.
The B-24 Liberator was a four-engine American bomber of the period of the Second World War with a high-set wing and nosewheel landing gear, which was built in great numbers and used on practically every front. The naval variant PB4Y-2 Privateer grew out of it in design and was used for long-range patrol flights over the sea. Both types had a high takeoff weight, so the tires of the main landing gear were noticeably compressed on a standing aircraft. Different batches of machines received tires with a different tread pattern, which is why the maker offers variants of the set according to the pattern.
Separate the cast parts from the casting blocks with a fine saw and never break them off. Level the contact face with abrasive paper laid on glass, so that the model stands straight and all the wheels touch the base. Then wash and degrease the parts. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied spot by spot with tweezers or a toothpick. Paint the hubs and the tires separately and fine-tune the hubcaps at the very end, because they are small but noticeable items. Once it has dried, dust the tire lightly with pigment, so that it does not look freshly made. Fit the wheels to the model only after the airframe has been painted.
The set is an accessory, not a kit on its own. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
