A set of extended landing flaps for the de Havilland DH.106 Comet 4 in 1:144 scale. Replacement parts for a model in the landing configuration.
Responsibility details are not available.
This add-on set from LACI makes it possible to build the model of the de Havilland DH.106 Comet 4 with the wing in the landing configuration. The contents are replacement flap parts, not the aircraft itself; you buy the base kit separately.
The Comet entered scheduled service at the start of the 1950s and opened the era of jet transport. After a series of accidents caused by fatigue in the fuselage structure the type went through a fundamental reworking and returned in the Comet 4 form with a lengthened fuselage, larger tanks in the leading edge and better range. It was with this version that the first scheduled jet service across the Atlantic was opened in 1958. The engines buried in the wing root give the type an unmistakable silhouette.
First mark out and cut away the original fixed trailing edge on the wing. Cut right up to the engraved line, keep trying the fit dry and level the surface with a file. Sand the mating edges flat, degrease the parts and glue them with cyanoacrylate; then fill the seam with putty. Fit the flaps at the same angle on both halves of the wing, otherwise the model will look crooked. Sand the whole area with fine paper before spraying.
It is an accessory for more advanced work; paints and decals are not enclosed.
