The Fiat G.50 Freccia was the first Italian all-metal monoplane with retractable landing gear, powered by an air-cooled radial engine. The G.50bis guise brought reworking of the rear fuselage and the cockpit and an increased fuel load, which were meant to improve range and the pilot's view. The aircraft was agile and rugged, but it lagged behind contemporary fighters in both performance and armament; it was deployed with the Regia Aeronautica and with foreign users.
First work out from the instructions which parts belong to which version — the fuselage and cockpit sections differ between the G.50 and the G.50bis, and a mix-up is hard to put right later. Separate the parts with a sharp knife, sand the seams with fine paper and glue with thin cement for plastic. A base coat unifies the surface and reveals the fine lines that would otherwise disappear under the paint. Italian camouflage tends to be mottled — at a small scale a soft transition sprayed with an airbrush at very low pressure looks better than a hard mask. Apply the decals over a gloss clear coat and seal them with a matte one.
