A double package that brings together in one box kits of two entirely different aircraft in 1:144 scale. You can build side by side a biplane fighter of the late 1930s and a twin-engine heavy fighter and attack aircraft, that is two machines from different design generations which nevertheless met in the same theater. In a display case such a pair says far more than two separate models; the difference in size and in design thinking is visible at first glance.
The Gloster Gladiator Mk.II was the last British biplane fighter in regular service: a radial engine, an enclosed cockpit, machine gun armament and fabric covering on part of the airframe. The Bristol Beaufighter represented the opposite pole, an all-metal twin-engine aircraft with two radial engines, heavy cannon armament in the nose and a crew of two, committed in the night fighter role and as an attack machine. The epithet in the name refers to the North African setting, where both types operated.
Start with the biplane; the struts call for more concentration and getting quickly through the second model is then a pleasure. On the twin-engine aircraft check dry the angle of the engine nacelles against the wing, as a small deviation shows on the finished model. In a small scale it pays to spray desert camouflage with finely thinned paint and to leave the boundaries between shades slightly soft. For weathering, a very fine deposit of a light pigment on the lower surfaces and the leading edges is enough; in 1:144 scale it is easy to overdo the dirt.
The models are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
