A turned 128 mm barrel for the E-100 with the Krupp turret in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker Aber replaces the plastic part of the kit. With no mold seam, a precise muzzle and a perfectly straight axis.
Responsibility details are not available.
Aber is a Polish maker of precise metal and photo-etched accessories, and this set is among its most straightforward. The turned metal barrel replaces the plastic barrel of the E-100 super-heavy tank in the version with the Krupp turret. It does away with gluing two halves together, with cleaning up the mold seam and with the risk that the barrel will not be straight once it is glued.
The E-100 was a German project for a super-heavy tank of the end of the Second World War. By the end of the fighting only a partly built chassis came about; the vehicle never received a production turret or armament. The Krupp turret was designed for a gun of 128 mm caliber, that is for the same class of armament as the one carried by the Jagdtiger tank destroyer. Models of the E-100 therefore always rest on project documentation, not on a complete surviving vehicle.
Degrease the metal barrel first, otherwise the paint will not hold on it. To fix it into the plastic turret use super glue or two-part epoxy; cement for plastic will not help here. Build the base up with a primer meant for metal and only then apply the color coat. Leave the muzzle darker and run graphite lightly over the edge of the muzzle, so that the metal looks used.
This is an accessory for a kit; it does not replace the kit itself. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
