A model of the German Messerschmitt Bf 109E fighter in the small 1:144 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109 accompanied the Luftwaffe through the whole of the Second World War. The E version was the main fighter version in 1940 and bore the brunt of the fighting over the English Channel and Britain. You recognize it by the angular canopy, the wing with squared-off tips and the narrow-track landing gear, which gave pilots trouble on takeoff and landing. It was powered by the inverted V12 Daimler-Benz DB 601.
A model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109E in 1:144 scale. The finished machine has a span of around seven centimeters, so it fits even where there is no room for large models and it sits well in collections of complete type series or in airfield scenes. The extent of the package, the number of parts and the extent of the decals are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
A small scale forgives less than you expect: seams and excess material show after spraying just as much as on a large model, they are only harder to sand. Thin the paints more than usual, therefore, and spray in thin coats, as a thick coat fills the fine engraving. Camouflage with soft transitions can be managed from close up and at low pressure; masking with putty or with a length of thread is more practical here than tape. The canopy frames in this scale tend to be so small that it is easier to suggest them with a fine brush than to mask them.
The model suits collectors of small scales and everyone who builds type surveys in a small space. Paints, glue and filler are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
