The MiG-17 Around the World, Asian Fresco Part I decal set in 1:144 scale is aimed at the markings of MiG-17 fighters among Asian users.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of waterslide decals from the brand Model Maker in 1:144 scale. According to the name it is the first part of the Asian section of the Around the World series, devoted to the markings of the MiG-17. It is not a kit or an accessory part but a stand-alone decal set with which you finish a model you have already built. Check the scope of the sheet and the number of schemes against the illustration on the packaging.
The MiG-17 followed on from the MiG-15 and brought a reworked swept wing and better behavior around the speed of sound. It was built in large numbers, under license outside the Soviet Union as well, and in the 1960s and 1970s it was among the most widespread fighters of all. The designation Fresco, which the name of the set carries, is the code name assigned to this type within NATO. It was exactly the Asian operators who used a colorful range of camouflage schemes and tactical numbers, which makes the type a rewarding subject for decal sheets.
Before applying them, spray the model with a gloss varnish, so the surface is smooth and the decal does not have to settle onto a matte texture. Cut the motif out, release it in lukewarm water and transfer it onto the model. Adjust the position while the decal is still damp, then blot the water away and let the film settle. On curved areas and over engraved lines use a softener, in two lighter doses one after the other if need be. Knock the finished model back to matte, so the gloss of the carrier film blends with the rest of the surface. In 1:144 scale it helps to work with a magnifier or good optics, as the motifs are small.
The package holds decals. The kit, the paints and the varnishes are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
