Decals of the national insignia of the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1:144 scale. The insignia takes the form of a circle with a maple leaf in the middle, which Canada uses instead of a plain roundel. The insignia are on the sheet in several sizes, so with one sheet you cover machines of various dimensions as well as various positions on the airframe: the insignia on the wing tends to be larger than the one on the fuselage. The exact list of sizes, their number and the layout are given by the manufacturer on the box and in the instructions with the sheet.
In 1:144 scale a national insignia measures only a few millimeters and drawing it by hand is practically impossible. The sheet therefore serves where the decals in a kit are missing, where they have been damaged or where you are building a machine the kit manufacturer did not offer. It proves itself on combat as well as transport aircraft and also suits building a larger number of models at once.
Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is not a self-adhesive version. A soaked self-adhesive film is ruined, whereas a waterslide decal that has not been soaked can be soaked later. On an ordinary waterslide sheet, cut the element out close to the artwork, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it stand until the carrier film releases from the backing. Then slide the decal onto a smooth, glossy and degreased surface, press the water out from under it and let it dry thoroughly. On a broken-up surface a softener helps.
