HGW 1:32 A-1 Skyraider, fabric belts

The set contains the pilot's harness belts for the cockpit of the A-1 Skyraider carrier attack aircraft in 1:32 scale. The belts are made of a fine textile (microfiber) that faithfully imitates the fabric of real webbing, and are completed with photo-etched metal buckles and fittings. The textile parts are pre-cut by laser and lift out of the sheet easily. This is an interior accessory, not a stand-alone aircraft kit.

The real subject

The Douglas A-1 Skyraider was a single-engined piston-powered carrier attack aircraft with a large weapons load and long endurance. Although it appeared at the end of the Second World War, it served long afterwards in the close air support role. Realistic belts bring the otherwise conspicuous, open cockpit of this machine to life.

Use

• Fabric belts offer the natural shape and drape that photo-etched metal cannot manage.
• The parts are lifted from the sheet, the backing is removed and the belts are shaped into the seat.
• The material takes ordinary modeling preparations and filters, and the shade can be tuned with paint.
• The metal buckles are detached from the photo-etched fret and fitted to the belts.
