A three-dimensional puzzle of Tower Bridge, the London bascule bridge. The model is assembled from parts according to the enclosed instructions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The bascule bridge across the Thames was opened in London in 1894 after traffic in the eastern part of the city had outgrown the capacity of the crossings of the day. The solution had to let ships into the port, so the central span of the roadway opens into two leaves, while pedestrians could cross by the walkways between the towers. The stone cladding in neo-Gothic style conceals the load-bearing structure of the bridge; the form of the towers therefore looks older than the year the bridge came about.
The parts are taken out of the sheets and joined in the order given by the instructions until a structure stands up on its own. It is not a flat puzzle but a three-dimensional model, with which the order of the steps decides whether you can reach the individual joints at all. How many parts the package contains and how big the finished model will be is stated on the packaging and in the enclosed instructions; modeling tools and experience are not needed.
The puzzle will please anyone who likes London, and anyone looking for a gift with some work in it. Even someone who has never built a model can manage the assembly. Glue, paints and lighting are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
