The second volume in the range of stencils from MH models carries on the selection of German divisional insignia for large models of vehicles in 1:16 scale. The individual volumes of the range differ in their choice of designs, so they can be combined according to which unit the model represents. The markings are created by sprayed paint, not by a stuck-on film.

How to use the mask

You set the stencil in the right place, apply paint through it in several thin coats and lift it off once dry. With multi-color insignia you work in layers: the lighter area first, and after it has dried the darker detail. Give the paint time between coats, or it will be damaged during further handling. A lower pressure and less paint will give a sharper outline than one heavy application. It also helps if the surface is smooth and well cured, because the paint then seeps less under the edge and the edges stay clean.

Who the mask is for

It suits builders in 1:16 scale who handle markings in paint and want the whole surface uniform. It also pays off when the insignia is to be partly scuffed or dusty. A sprayed area can be sanded and toned in the same way as the finish around it, which is not so easy with a decal.
