A miniature of the German Hafthohlladung magnetic charge in 1:16 scale. This is a modeling accessory, not a vehicle kit and not a figure: it serves to fit out models, dioramas and figure scenes where period equipment is to be captured. In this large scale the part comes out big enough for even small points of shaping to stand out on it.
The Hafthohlladung was a German anti-armor charge from the Second World War period with a shaped-charge filling. For a modeler it is above all the shape that matters: a conical body, magnet feet at the wider base and a handle with a fuse at the top. The silhouette is unmistakable, so the object is recognized at once in a scene and does not blend in with the rest of the equipment. For placing it in a particular scene the same rule applies as with other equipment: the accessory belongs where it matches the period and unit context you are building.
Clean the part and spray it with a primer coat. The body is usually painted in a single shade, while the wooden part of the handle is set apart with a brown tone and a light glaze for the wood grain. The metal surfaces benefit from being picked out with a dark wash and a gentle dry brush, which pulls the edges out. You can lay the accessory in a crate of equipment, add it to a figure or lean it against a wall in a diorama; when gluing it to smooth surfaces, a single drop of super glue applied with a pin helps.
