The M4A3E8 Medium Tank in its late version is a kit of the American Sherman medium tank in the grand 1:16 scale from the I Love Kit brand. The large format gives room for detail on the HVSS running gear and on the whole hull.

The kit captures the American M4A3E8 medium tank, known among modelers and veterans alike by the nickname Easy Eight, in its late production form. The 1:16 scale is among the largest that is commonly built for armor, so the finished model is a dominant display piece. The large format also makes it possible to render the wheels and tracks, the welds on the hull, the cast turret and the small equipment on the fenders faithfully. The I Love Kit brand has long focused on the large scales.
The M4A3E8 is a late development branch of the M4 Sherman. It combines the M4A3 hull with welded armor and the Ford GAA gasoline engine, a turret with the long 76 mm gun and above all the new HVSS running gear, that is suspension with horizontal coil springs and wide tracks. The wide track markedly lowered the ground pressure and improved behavior in mud and snow, which on the earlier Shermans had long been a weak point. Vehicles of this form reached the troops in the closing phase of the fighting in Europe and in modernized forms served long after the war.
In a scale this large it pays to work in whole sections. Finish and paint the running gear, the HVSS bogies and the inside of the hull before you close the hull up, otherwise you cannot reach them any more. Treat the seams between the large parts with filler and sand them, because at this size they show at first glance. Lay the base coat down with a filler primer and only then apply the shade. A large surface takes variation in the shades of the base color and the highlighting of rivets and welds. Build the weathering in layers, first dark flowing washes in the hollows, then dust and mud pigments on the lower hull and the tracks.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
