Responsibility details are not available.
A sizeable injection-molded plastic kit of the Russian T-72B1 main battle tank from Trumpeter in the giant 1:16 scale. It is a large and demanding model with a high part count, individually assembled track links, photo-etched parts and an elaborate running gear. In the large scale the blocks of explosive reactive armor on the turret and the hull come out well, along with the hatches that open, the tanks, the tools and the other external equipment. The model is intended as a static build.
The T-72 is a Russian (Soviet) main battle tank of conventional layout, with a 125 mm smoothbore gun, an autoloader and a low silhouette. The T-72B version is among the modernized machines of the family; within that family the B1 designation is used for the variant with added explosive reactive armor, which raises its resistance to shaped-charge ammunition. The tank is one of the most widespread fighting vehicles of its category.
With a model of this size, assemble and paint the running gear and the individual track links before you fit the side skirts. Use thin modeling cement on the plastic, treat the surface with a primer and lay the shades on with an airbrush. The blocks of reactive armor and the broken-up surface of the turret are ideal for patina: dark washes will pick out the gaps and the edges, and pigments will create dust and mud effects on the running gear, the fenders and the underside of the hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
