Hex rivets from the Japanese brand Top Studio 0.8 mm in diameter in a golden brass finish. It is not a kit of a model, but supplementary detailing parts that a modeler fits onto a part-built model of a car or a motorcycle. The dimension given in the name is the diameter of the head of the rivet, not a scale, so the set does not relate to one particular kit.
Eight tenths of a millimeter is among the thicker sizes of the range, which covers the span from 0.5 to 1.0 mm. Rivets of this size work well on the assemblies that bear the load on a real car as well: the joints of the frame and of subframes, the mounting of suspension arms and dampers, the engine mounts, the attachment of bumpers and diffusers. For a fine interior, by contrast, they are too prominent, and there you should reach for 0.5 or 0.6 mm from the same range.
The range is kept in three versions, A, B and C, which differ in the shape of the head. Version B is on offer in a brass as well as a silver shade, so you can match the same shape with the color of the surrounding parts. On one model it pays to keep to one version, so that the hardware comes across uniformly.
The brass shade can be left without painting, but it is worth fixing with a matte varnish, so that the gloss is evened out with the surroundings. When you do paint the rivets, apply the paint thinly, as a heavy coat rounds the edges of the hexagon off and the detail is lost. For emphasis a dark wash run around the head is more effective than painting the whole surface over. If you are weathering the model, fit the rivets only after the base coat, and you will save yourself masking.
