The Sd.Kfz. 250 was a light German half-track armored personnel carrier of the Second World War. It carried small crews and in a whole range of modifications served for reconnaissance, signals and support. At the rear it is carried by a tracked chassis, at the front by an ordinary axle with tires; that one is not powered and serves for steering. It is on just that axle that the only tires of the whole vehicle are, so the tread pattern is visible without searching.
Replacement wheels in 1:16 with a road tread, in the rendering designated as type 1, intended for Das Werk kits. The 1:16 scale matters here: the wheel has a noticeable size in the hand, and the tread pattern, the shape of the sidewall and the division of the disk look at the viewer from close up. An inaccuracy that would be lost in small scales is apparent at once here, and in the same way the care you devote to the wheels pays off.
Fit the wheels dry first and compare the diameter and the mounting with the parts of the kit. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder so that the edge of the sidewall stays whole. Wash and degrease the wheels before painting. Choose the glue according to the material given on the package; the exact procedure follows the manufacturer's instructions. In a large scale depth of color pays off: a muted dark gray base, a lighter dry brush over the pattern and a fine dusting of the lower part of the wheel. Separate the disk with the vehicle color.
What is supplied is the wheels alone. The vehicle kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
