A metal set of ammunition cases for the American heavy machine gun of 12.7 millimeter caliber, that is half an inch, in 1:16 scale. According to the name it holds thirty pieces. The set is aimed precisely at the cases; the ammunition itself is the subject of a separate item, so check what you need. It is not a model of a vehicle or of a weapon, but an accessory that is added to a finished model, into a vehicle or into a diorama.
The large 1:16 scale is rewarding and merciless at the same time. A case that would be a tiny detail in 1:35 scale is here an object the size of a fingernail with visible pressed ribs, a latch and a handle. That is exactly why it pays to replace coarse plastic castings with a metal set on large models; the difference in the sharpness of the edges shows at first glance, and the cases can on top of that be placed freely around the bed or around the gun position.
Degrease the metal parts with alcohol first. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two blades, so that the edges are sharp and parallel. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in a minimal amount; on larger areas the gel variety helps. Metal calls for a good primer, otherwise the paint comes away during handling. Choose the particular shade and the markings according to the machine and the scene you are building; leaving some of the cases open and slightly scuffed helps the credibility.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
