The figure represents a non-commissioned officer of the Wehrmacht from the period of the Second World War. The abbreviation Uffz. in the designation corresponds to the rank of Unteroffizier, that is to the lowest non-commissioned grade. The set is listed under the designation Eastern Front 1943, which states the theme the manufacturer assigned it to. It therefore suits equipment and a scene from the same setting, whether as a stand-alone piece in a display case or as an accessory to a vehicle.
The 1:16 scale is among the larger ones for figures. A figure in a natural stance comes out of it roughly eleven centimeters tall, which is appreciably more than figures accompanying equipment in 1:35 scale. The larger size means that the folds of the cloth, the buckles, the buttons and the features of the face all stand out, but also that nothing can be skimped: every inaccuracy in the painting shows plainly on the finished figure.
Wash and degrease the figure before painting. Cut the excess material and the production marks away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the surface detail does not disappear. The suitable glue follows from the material of the parts; you will find that in the manufacturer's instructions. Paint from the bottom up and in thin coats: the base tones first, then the shadows into the folds and finally the highlights on the raised edges. Leave the face for a time when your hand is steady; it is what makes the whole figure. Paint the eyes rather as a suggestion of a dark slit than as a continuous white, or the figure will stare for no reason.
