An etched instrument panel for a model of the Harrier GR.9A in 1:72 scale. According to the name it is cut for the kit by the brand Airfix.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Harrier is a British attack aircraft which can take off from a short strip and land vertically thanks to the swiveling nozzles on the sides of the fuselage. The designation GR.9A belongs to the late modernized machines from the end of the type's service, which differ from the older forms mainly in equipment and armament. The cockpit sits high and under the bubble canopy there is a good view into it, so on a finished model it pays to give it attention.
In 1:72 scale kits the instrument panel tends to be rendered with only a shallow relief, because plastic will not hold the fine detail of the displays and instruments at this size. The etched part of thin metal has crisp outlines and, once painted, the cockpit does not come across as empty. The name gives the intended use for the kit by the brand Airfix; with another kit, therefore, check the dimensions dry first. The exact contents of the package and the fitting procedure are given by the manufacturer's instructions.
Do the dry test right at the start of the build, as the panel is fitted before the fuselage halves are glued together. The plastic part beneath it usually has to be thinned or leveled, otherwise you will not close the fuselage. Cut the etched part off the carrier sheet with a sharp blade on a hard surface and level the remaining tab with a file. The metal is not polystyrene; it is glued with super glue. Before painting, wash and degrease it and start with a primer, otherwise the coat will not hold.
What is supplied is the etched part. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
