A decal sheet in 1:72 scale for models of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc and Mk.IXe with markings for machines that served in Greece, Turkey and Burma. This is the first part of a range, so further sheets with further operators follow on from it. Which particular machines are covered on the sheet and how their markings are laid out is shown by the drawing supplied by the manufacturer.
The letter after the version number does not refer to the engine but to the armament in the wing. The c version carried a pair of 20 mm cannon supplemented by rifle-caliber machine guns. The e version dropped the rifle-caliber machine guns: the cannon moved to the outer position and a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun took its place. On the model this can be told by the position of the barrels and by the bulges on the upper surface of the wing, so choose the scheme in advance and build the wing accordingly.
Coat the spot under the decal with a gloss clear varnish. Cut the decal out close to the edge of the print and dip it for a few seconds in lukewarm water, then leave it aside until it will slide off the paper. Slide it into place, press the water out with a soft brush from the middle toward the edges and draw off the rest. A softener will help the film settle over the engraving and the riveting. Once dry, coat the surface again and only then start on the weathering.
The model, paints, clear coats and softener are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
