A masking set for a model of the Bell AH-1G Huey Cobra attack helicopter in 1:72 scale from the brand Peewit. The die-cut masks are stuck straight onto the clear part, so the laborious cutting from tape is done away with.

This is a masking set for a model of the Bell AH-1G Huey Cobra attack helicopter in 1:72 scale. It is neither a kit nor a part for adding detail - the masks serve to protect the glazing while spraying and to get sharp, straight cockpit frames with no paint running under them. In 1:72 that tells especially: cutting tape by hand for frames this small almost always ends in a ragged edge.
Lift a mask off the backing with tweezers, lay it on the clear part and press it down with a toothpick or a skewer, so that no air bubble is left anywhere. Smooth the edges over once more for good measure - that is where the paint most often creeps under. It pays to spray the glazing first in the interior shade, then in the base color of the airframe, so that the frames look right from inside as well. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has dried, not after several days, when the adhesive separates less easily.
The Bell AH-1G Huey Cobra is an American attack helicopter with a narrow fuselage and a tandem cockpit. It is precisely that narrow glazing with its many frames that makes masking most troublesome, so a ready-made set of masks pays off more on this type than on machines with a simple canopy.
The masks are supplied without paints and without a kit. Check the contents of the set beyond the name against the details on the packaging.
