The Academy Horten Ho 229 in 1:72 scale is an injection-molded plastic kit of the German jet flying wing from the end of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale captures the German experimental Horten Ho 229 jet flying wing. The package holds gray plastic parts, a clear part for the glazing, masking films for the cockpit and a decal sheet with several marking options. It is a kit with a manageable number of parts, suitable even as an entry into the world of aviation classics without needless complexity.
The Ho 229 was designed by the Horten brothers as a flying wing powered by a pair of jet engines. The layout, with no conventional fuselage or tail surfaces, was to offer both high speed and long range; by the end of the war, however, only a few prototypes were built and the machine never reached combat use. To this day it is among the icons of advanced aviation development at the close of the war and is often called a forerunner of modern flying wings.
Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and sand the joints of the leading edges carefully, because on a flying wing the seams are clearly visible. Before painting, apply filler primer, spray the shades with an airbrush and protect the glazing with the masks supplied. The decals settle better on gloss varnish, and a matte final varnish then evens the surface out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
