The instrument panel of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-3 in 1:2 scale, that is at half real size. A stand-alone piece, not an accessory for an aircraft kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-3 is a German single-seat fighter with a radial engine, one of the early versions of the A series. The instrument panel was the place the pilot looked at most often: it gathered the indicators of flight and of the running of the powerplant into a surface he had to read at a glance.
Scale 1:2 means half the size of the real panel. In such a format this is not an accessory for an aircraft kit but a stand-alone piece that holds up on its own. Small details stand out on it that would be lost in the usual modeling scales, and by the same token every unfinished edge will show on it, so the work calls for calm and good light.
First wash and degrease the surface and only then reach for the base color, because on a large surface every greasy fingerprint will show. Cover in thin layers, as a thick layer will clog the fine relief of the scales. Bring out the edges and the protruding places with a dry brush; the lettering and the graduation marks can be fine-tuned with a thin brush and paint that has thickened a little. A drop of gloss clear coat will bring the instrument glass to life and create the impression of a glazed dial face.
It will be appreciated by modelers and collectors looking for a striking piece for a shelf or a display case who enjoy working on one large piece instead of building a whole aircraft. Paints, glue and other material are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
