Hose joints for models of cars and formula cars

A supplementary set of resin hose joints in 1:20 to 1:24 scale, that is, in the sizes in which collector models of automobiles and formula cars are built. The designation of a mixed set suggests that various configurations are represented in it; their exact list is given in the manufacturer's instructions. It is not a kit or a part of one, but material for additional detailing.

What the joints are for

In the engine bay of a real car a number of hoses run and every one of them begins somewhere and ends somewhere. It is precisely these terminations and fittings that make the difference on a model between a hose that is merely a bent piece of wire and routing that looks as if it were installed. The joints are slipped onto a run and terminate it at the place where it connects to the engine, the radiator or the tank. They come into their own on brake and fuel runs as well, and everywhere it is to be visible on a model that the routing is really attached.

Building and painting tips

• the parts are not polystyrene and are bonded with super glue
• cut surplus material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down
• work over a base or a tray, as the parts are small and bounce away easily
• before painting, wash them in lukewarm soapy water and degrease them
• paint them before gluing, as in place you will no longer reach the underside
• apply a base color, otherwise the coat will not hold on the smooth surface
