A plastic kit from the original science-fiction MechatroWeGo line of the Japanese maker Hasegawa, specifically version number 05 designated Sport's Blue, in 1:20 scale. The MechatroWeGo is a fictional small two-legged walking machine with a glazed cabin: a work robot designed for everyday jobs rather than for combat, which gives the whole line its characteristically light-hearted tone. The color schemes of the individual numbers differ, and that is exactly what makes it a collector's line.
The subject is fictional, so this is not a replica of an existing machine. The series is built on a combination of a sturdy hull, a prominent glazed cabin and short walking legs; the resulting shape is deliberately rounded and toy-like, and in 1:20 scale it gives a compact model that fits even on a crowded shelf. The line covers dozens of variants with different color schemes and accessories, both in this scale and in the smaller 1:35.
Thanks to the simple shapes the build is friendly even to less experienced modelers, but that makes the quality of the surface stand out all the more: large smooth areas forgive neither scratches nor leftover mold seams, so careful sanding and polishing before painting pays off. For a gloss finish, apply the paint in thin coats and let them dry thoroughly, with any gloss clear coat right at the very end. Paint and finish the inside of the cabin before you close it up: afterwards you can no longer get in. Protect the clear parts with a mask and glue them with a cement intended for clear plastics so that they do not fog.
The model is supplied unassembled as a plastic kit. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
