A set of color 3D decals for detailing the interior of the two-seat Mitsubishi F-2B of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force in 1:48 scale. The decals have both relief and color and are glued directly onto the plastic cockpit parts, so painting the instrument panels is done away with. This is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for a model.
The Mitsubishi F-2 is a Japanese combat aircraft derived from the F-16, with which it shares the basic layout but from which it differs in a larger wing making extensive use of composites, a revised nose and Japanese avionics. It is powered by a General Electric F110 engine built under license in Japan. The F-2B designation belongs to the two-seat variant with seats one behind the other, which serves both for training and for combat duties; the single-seat variant carries the designation F-2A. The cockpits of the two versions differ, so the set for the two-seater additionally has the rear station.
Degrease the interior parts and rid them of dust; the surface should be smooth. Soak the decal in lukewarm water, let it release from the backing and slide it into place, fine-tuning the position with a soft brush. Blot the excess water away and let it dry thoroughly. Dose the softener carefully, so that the relief presses against the shape of the part and stays three-dimensional. Finish both cockpits before the fuselage is glued together.
