A set of painting masks for painting a model of the British Avro Lancaster B Mk.I and Mk.III bomber in 1:32 scale, intended for the kit from the Border brand.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Avro Lancaster is a British four-engined heavy bomber of the Second World War, and in 1:32 scale it makes a large model with long cockpit glazing, gun turrets and extensive wing surfaces. That is exactly where masking by hand drags on the most, and an inaccurately run boundary shows on the finished model.
It is a set of painting masks prepared for the shape of the parts of one particular kit, which the name identifies as Border. The masks are therefore cut to dimensions that will sit on the model, and the measuring out and cutting from tape is done away with. Which parts the set covers is given in the manufacturer's instructions; go through them before painting, so that you know what you will still have to mask yourself.
The masks are stuck onto a clean, dry and degreased surface before spraying. Press the edges down properly, above all in the corners and over the frames, or the paint will bleed under them. Spray the paint in thin coats and lightly, as a heavy coat likes to build up under the edge of a mask and leaves a ridge once it is removed. Take the masks off while the paint is only tacky, not after a long cure; they then come away cleanly and without a trace. Peel them slowly and at an angle, so that they do not take the paintwork with them.
The set suits anyone who is building the Lancaster in a large scale and wants the glazing and the color boundaries sharp without the slow business of cutting tape.
The model, the kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
