An SX-Art masking set for the Junkers Ju 87 G1/G2 in 1:35 scale: pre-cut self-adhesive masks for spraying the frames of the extensive cockpit glazing. Intended for the Border kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Pre-cut self-adhesive masks from the SX-Art brand for a model of the German Junkers Ju 87 dive bomber in the G-1 and G-2 versions. The set is neither a kit nor a set of parts: these are films that cover the glazing before you spray the model over, and that are taken off once it is dry. The target kit is Border.
The Ju 87 is among the aircraft with a long greenhouse canopy for a crew of two. The glazing is divided into a row of panes and the frames run both lengthwise and across, so by hand it would mean dozens of separate strips, each of which has to be straight and to line up with its neighbor. That is exactly where a pre-cut mask is most effective: the pieces are the same length and width, so the grid comes out regular and the frames do not converge. The G version differs from the earlier forms above all in the armament slung under the wing, while the shape of the cockpit stays characteristic of the whole type.
Work systematically: start with the lengthwise frames, which set the geometry, and only then fill in the cross pieces between them. Degrease the clear part beforehand in lukewarm water with dish soap. Let each piece settle freely first and press it down around the edge with a toothpick only after checking it. Apply the paint in thin coats, the interior shade first, then the external camouflage. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried and always at an angle backward, not straight up off the surface.
