SX-Art 1:35 masking set for the AH-64D/E: exactly cut masks for the glazing of an attack helicopter in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is neither a model nor a supplementary set of parts. These are ready-made masks, cut to shape, for covering the glazing while painting a model of the AH-64D or AH-64E attack helicopter in 1:35 scale. They replace the slow business of cutting tape, in which the curves and the edges of the frames are hard to hit, and above all they save time: masking the glazing tends to be the most tiresome part of the work on a helicopter.
Lift the mask off the backing with a sharp knife or tweezers, lay it on the clear part and press it down around the edges, so that no paint creeps under it. Leave the glazing clean and degreased beforehand, as fingerprints worsen the adhesion. Spray the interior shade of the frames first, then the primer and the external color, always in thin coats. A heavy coat creates a step at the edge, which looks coarse once the mask is off.
Take the masks off as soon as the paint is dry to the touch but not yet cured to full hardness; after a longer time the edge of the paint tears. Pull them back over themselves at an acute angle, not straight up. Wipe any adhesive residue away with a cotton swab dampened in warm water. The set is cut for one particular kit, so use it with the item the manufacturer intended it for.
