A saw blade is a compromise with no substitute in a modeling workshop: it has the teeth of a saw but the dimensions and the mount of a blade. Thanks to that it saws through material even in a place where a full-size saw will not fit and where a knife would only slip or the part would crack. This version is marked as narrow, so it is built precisely for work in a confined space. According to the designation there are 5 pieces in the package.

When you will reach for it

• Sawing through the seam between two parts that are to be separated without damaging either.
• Cutting off a thick sprue gate or casting block that a knife would not manage without the risk of cracking.
• Marking and deepening the parting seam of doors, hatches and covers.
• A cut inside a surface, where there is nowhere to start a saw with a frame.
• Dividing plastic profiles and rods, where a square cut is needed.

How to work with it

A saw blade works more slowly than a knife, and that is all right. Do not press, otherwise the blade will jam in the cut and snap off, and with a narrow blade that happens more easily than with a wide one. Make short strokes, support the part close to the place of the cut and let the teeth do the work. Rather run the cut a little to the side of the target plane and take the rest off with a file, because accuracy is reached by sanding, not by sawing. The teeth clog up with plastic, so clean them from time to time, otherwise the blade will stop biting.

What to watch out for when choosing

Number 15 is a type designation of the shape of the blade, not information about the handle. Before buying, please compare the mount of the blade with the knife you use. An ill-fitting mount is the most common problem with spare blades.
