This kit in 1:48 scale is aimed at the MiG-17F version in Egyptian and Syrian service. The 1:48 scale is the most widespread one for fighters, because it offers enough room for the detail of the cockpit and at the same time the model fits into a display case. Besides modeling chemicals the AMMO of Mig Jimenez brand also releases kits, and this box belongs to its aircraft line.
The MiG-17 came into being as the development continuation of the MiG-15 with a new, more markedly swept wing and a longer fuselage, which gave it better behavior at high speeds. The version designated F is a day fighter powered by a jet engine with an afterburner, which improved its rate of climb and its acceleration. The armament consisted of cannons in the nose. The type was produced and built under license in great numbers and served in dozens of countries; Egypt and Syria fielded it in the 1960s and 1970s above all for attacks on ground targets, where its toughness and its cannon armament came into their own.
On the MiG-17 the cockpit and the forward part of the fuselage are decisive. Finish and paint the cockpit before you close the fuselage, and do not forget weight in the nose, otherwise the model will sit down on its tail. Unify the inside of the intake duct with a light color and sand the gaps in it, because they are visible through the intake. Natural metal surfaces need a perfectly smooth base, so sand the joints carefully and polish the surface. Desert and sand schemes look better with slightly brightened surfaces and with discreet emphasis of the panel lines. Apply the decals on a gloss clear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
