This item is not a model of a helicopter, but a set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks for the glazing of a model of the Westland Sea King in the HC.4 version in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Art Scale. You stick the masks onto the clear part, they frame the individual windows, and you then spray the frames together with the fuselage. That does away with cutting strips from masking tape, which with the broken-up glazing of a helicopter takes more time than all the rest of the painting. The manufacturer cut them for the Airfix kit.
The one-sided version allows for masking from the outer side of the glazing. A double-sided variant of the same type, which also deals with the inner side, is a separate item. The express fit designation is used by the manufacturer for masks cut exactly to the shape of the part, so that they do not have to be trimmed further. How many masks the sheet contains and whether it also deals with the wheels is given on the box of the set.
The Sea King HC.4 is the assault version of the British Sea King, nicknamed the Junglie. Compared with the anti-submarine and rescue versions it has neither the retractable landing gear sponsons nor anti-submarine equipment, and it serves to carry naval infantry troops and cargo from ships to the shore. Machines of this version flew in dark camouflage, were deployed in amphibious operations as well as in mountain and arctic conditions, and their silhouette is set apart mainly by the treatment of the landing gear and the side part of the fuselage. That is exactly why a mask for the HC.4 is not interchangeable without reservation with a mask for the rescue versions.
Wash the clear part in lukewarm soapy water and let it dry completely. Take the mask off with tweezers or a sharp knife, lay it in the middle of the panel and press it from the center out to the edges. Press the edges down with a toothpick, otherwise paint will run under them. Spray in thin coats, so that no heavy ridge forms on the edge, and take the mask off while the paint is freshly dried.
