A collector's figure from the Mindwork Games brand, released under the Green Stuff World heading. The figure of 75 mm is not a scale but a height class in which collector's figures are commonly made. Mindwork Games is among the author's brands that build on an idea and an atmosphere, not on mass production of gaming miniatures. The theme of a headless figure is deliberately unsettling, and for a painter it means mainly one thing: there is no face, that is, no usual center of attention, and the whole impression has to be carried by the silhouette, the materials and the light.
A collector's model of this kind deserves honest preparation before painting. Clean it of casting residue, remove the sprue gates and gently sand the mold seams down, so that they do not appear under the paint. If the model is in parts, try the parts dry first, and only then join them and fill and sand the resulting gaps with modeling putty. Then unify the whole surface with a primer, ideally from a can or with an airbrush in thin coats, so that the detail is not lost.
When there is no face on a figure, the composition of colors takes over its role. Decide on one striking accent and mute the rest of the palette, otherwise the model has nowhere to lead the eye. Textile and leather stand out by a difference in sheen, not only in tone, so keep the final varnishing as part of the painting and matte the surfaces to different degrees. A dark wash in the recesses gives the silhouette depth, while careful lightening of the edges lifts it away from the background. If you put the figure on a base, keep it muted, so that it competes with the model as little as possible.
