Check the parts list with the manufacturer before buying, so that you know exactly what you are getting. The 1:144 scale is the most widespread one for airliner models, so even a large machine stays reasonably compact in it and fits into a display case.
The A310 came about as a shortened derivative of the older A300 type. It received a new wing and a modern flight deck adapted for a two-member crew, which was a novelty on a wide-body airliner of the day. The power came from a pair of turbofan engines slung under the wing. Alongside the airliners, freighter versions and conversions for military users were built as well, so the type turns up in a colorful range of liveries, and that is usually what attracts modelers to these aircraft most.
