This item is not a kit but an accessory for building a model of the German Jagdpanzer IV tank destroyer in 1:35 scale. The set joins the gun mantlet with the barrel and is designated as the mid production form with a double-baffle muzzle brake. The barrel replaces the plastic part, which always has a lengthwise mold parting line, and is straight and stiff enough to carry its own weight, which shows most with a long projecting weapon.
The Jagdpanzer IV was a German tank destroyer on the chassis of the Panzer IV tank, with a low sloped superstructure instead of a rotating turret. In the version designated by its barrel length as L/48 it carried a 75 mm gun of the PaK 39 type with a barrel length of 48 calibers. On these vehicles the muzzle brake stopped being fitted in the course of production, so it is precisely by that feature that a vehicle can be placed in time; the manufacturer therefore makes both the form with a double-baffle brake and variants without one.
Wash the resin mantlet in lukewarm water with detergent and cut the casting block off with a saw; level the mating surface on abrasive paper on a flat board. Degrease the metal part with alcohol. It is glued with cyanoacrylate, and check the seating dry first, because a straight barrel brings out every deviation from the axis. It is best painted over a primer; then bring the muzzle and the baffles of the muzzle brake out with a dark shade and dust the lower part of the barrel with pigment.
