A mesh pattern is the most demanding thing on a wheel that a maker of miniatures can offer. Instead of eight or ten arms, dozens of thin ribs overlap here, and views right through to the brake have to be left between them. The American manufacturer the pattern comes from built its name on that in the setting of modified cars, where a wheel is taken as the main ornament and not as a consumable part.
A diameter of eighteen inches suits a wide range of bodies from compacts to mid-size coupes. It is large enough for the wheel to become a dominant feature, and yet it stays within the bounds where the rubber still has some side and the car does not come across as a mock-up on wheels off a stroller. In 1:24 scale it means a disc on which the mesh is still distinguishable with the naked eye.
A dense pattern calls for the opposite procedure to the usual one: a dark base is laid into all the crevices first, and only then are the edges of the ribs brought out with a light coat from above. Spraying over the mesh at one go means flooding the views through and depriving yourself of the whole effect. The package carries four discs; it contains neither tires nor a brake assembly, which is left to a kit or to an accessory set.
