This Hobby Design set replaces the production rims with a replica of the ADV.1 wheel in the 10M.V2 pattern. The name states that the package holds four resin wheels and metal valves. The valve is exactly the detail that scale models usually lack, and yet it is immediately visible in a photograph of a car from the side and gives a build credibility of scale.
ADV.1 is an American brand that concentrates on forged wheels built to suit a particular car. The customer chooses the width, the offset and the finish, so two seemingly identical wheels sit differently in the arch. The 10M.V2 pattern is one of its spoke designs, with a deep barrel and a prominent dividing edge between the face and the rim lip. Wheels of this type are fitted to modern supercars and modified sedans.
Wash the resin before painting so that no mold release agent is left on the surface. The face of the wheel looks best under a metallic shade applied in thin coats, because a heavy coat fills in the fine drawing of the spokes. Fit the valve only after painting and attach it with a drop of glue carried on the tip of a toothpick. Darken the inside of the barrel slightly; that gives the wheel depth and separates the spokes visually from the background.
