The short-wheelbase quattro

The Sport S1 is the sharpest stage of development of the short-wheelbase Audi quattro. The wheelbase was shortened markedly against the basic coupe, the turbocharged five-cylinder worked at the limit of the possibilities of the day, and massive wings at the front and the rear were there to keep the car on the ground. After the end of the most powerful rally category these machines were not lost. They went on racing with private teams, at national events and at one-off shows, among which is the event mentioned in the name of this set. A model with such markings is therefore a welcome exception among the usual works colors.

• The large rear spoiler is best finished before you glue it onto the model.
• The side vents have sharp edges, so work around them with a damp brush.
• Fenders with rivets need more softener, so that every detail stands out.
