A kit of the circuit-racing Nissan Skyline GT-R in Group A form from the Japanese Touring Car Championship, in the blue livery of the Calsonic team, in the version of the 1993 season winner. The scale is 1:24 and the maker is the Japanese company Hasegawa, which has covered the circuit Skylines of the early 1990s in a whole series of boxes. It is an injection-molded plastic kit for gluing.
The Skyline GT-R of the R32 generation, factory designation BNR32, came back on the scene in 1989 and established complete dominance in Group A of the Japanese championship. The combination of an inline six with two turbochargers and all-wheel drive that sent torque to the front axle as required gave the car such a lead that it earned a nickname pointing to its invincibility. The Calsonic livery is, along with those of other works teams, among the best known schemes the car raced in.
A circuit car has a bold single-color finish on which every unevenness shows, so it pays to spend time on preparing the surface and on the primer. Spray the blue in thin coats, let it cure and only then lay on the gloss clear coat. Apply the sponsor decals onto a gloss surface and seal them in with a second coat of clear. The interior of a racing car is spare compared with the production one, with a roll cage, a seat and belts, which is a rewarding chance to bring out detail. Do the wheels and brakes separately so that the paint is not damaged while handling the body.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
