A combined set from Hobby Design that according to the name contains photo-etched and resin parts for the kit of the open Ferrari 360 Spider from Tamiya in 1:24 scale. The set is not a model of an automobile; it serves as a superstructure with which the convertible from Maranello gets equipment that the basic kit cannot match.
The Ferrari 360 Spider of 2000 is the open version of the 360 Modena model. The innovative all-aluminum space frame kept the weight low even despite the stiffening necessary on a convertible, and in the middle of the car lies a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V8 with an output of 400 hp, displayed under a glazed cover as if in a gallery. The open body moreover fully reveals the interior, so careful work on the cabin pays back richly.
On a convertible in particular the interior is constantly in view, so it pays to devote time to the seats, the belts and the door panels. Go over the resin extras with primer before painting, so that the coats have a shade uniform with the surrounding plastic. Hold small photo-etched parts temporarily with a piece of masking tape while gluing, until the glue sets, and you will avoid shifted details. A folded fabric roof can be brought out by fine dry brushing, which will draw out the structure of the material.
