Nineteen-inch three-piece wheels with tires of the usual profile, intended for builds at the original ride height.
Responsibility details are not available.
A wheel bolted together from a center and two rings was a mark of expensive racing equipment from the seventies onward. Circuit and competition cars used them because a damaged ring could be replaced without throwing the whole disc away, and mechanics valued that quality more than weight. The aesthetic that came about through it outlived its original reason by half a century, and today it sells mainly for the look.
On a model the multi-part construction shows differently than one would expect. It is not so much about the bolts as about the center and the edge reflecting light in a different shade; if you paint them the same color, the wheel flattens out. It therefore pays to divide the paint at least in the degree of gloss, even if you stay with one color.
This item carries tires with a standard sidewall. The model will therefore stay at its natural height and will come across as a car with more expensive equipment, not as a show piece. The combination of a gold disc and normal rubber is exactly what you will meet at today's retro-minded meets, where the cars are still driven and not only displayed.
The resin castings are supplied separately. Before gluing it is a good idea to rid the mating surfaces of remnants of the casting system, otherwise the wheel sits askew and in the view from the front that is noticed at once.
Anyone wanting to be faithful to the subject will choose a matching setting for the photograph of the finished build as well. A gold wheel on the wet tarmac of a mountain road tells a different story than the same wheel in a hall full of white light, and the difference between the two readings is precisely one of period.
