An accessory from the production of Hobby Design for the kit of the racing Honda Civic EF3 in the Group A specification of 1989 in PIAA colors, in 1:24 scale. The package does not serve as a full-fledged kit of the car; the model the set belongs to is given by the name of the product and is acquired separately.
The compact fourth-generation Civic became the terror of stronger opponents in the Japanese touring car championship. A light body, an obliging high-revving four-cylinder and a precise chassis made the Group A cars an even racing field that was rewarding for spectators. The execution with the PIAA sponsor is among the best known color schemes of the era when circuit specials kept the civilian face of series-production hatchbacks, and among collectors of racing Hondas it has a special place to this day.
On a racing miniature the cleanliness of the execution plays first fiddle: finish the paint and the decals first, and the extras come in turn at the final assembly. Take the parts off step by step and store them sorted, so that nothing gets lost. A pinhead of glue is enough for gluing; less is always more here and clean joints decide the result.
On a circuit Civic the sponsor lettering makes up half the impression, so do not hurry with applying it. Let the decals loosen in warm water and settle them with softener so that they copy every edge of the body. Only over the dried lettering comes a layer of clear varnish, and after it the fitting of the extras from this set.
