A set of small interior details in 1:24 scale from the Polish brand Yamamoto Model Parts. It offers gear knobs in the forms that turn up in Japanese modified cars, from long turned types to short ball-shaped ones. It is an accessory to a car model, not a kit of a car.
A gear knob is a trifle the size of a pinhead, but it sits exactly in the middle of the cabin, that is where everyone who picks a model up looks. Production kits deal with it as part of the casting of the tunnel and with no shape of its own. Swapping it for a free-standing part is one of the simplest ways to give an interior character, and on top of that the form can be chosen according to the style of the car.
With parts of this size the biggest mistake is painting them after they are glued into the model, because a brush cannot reach them and the paint runs onto the upholstery around. So do not cut them off the casting block at once: leave them on it, wash them, lay down a base and the color, and cut the finished part off and set it in with tweezers only then. A combination of materials is the most rewarding thing about such trifles, that is a polished metal on the body and a colored or dark end piece. Apply the paint very thinly, so that the grooves and the transitions do not disappear. Glue the knob into the interior as the very last step, once the upholstery is finished, and glue it with a dot of super glue applied with a toothpick, not straight from the bottle, or the glue will run out and dull the surface around it. If the lever runs at an angle on the model, check that the knob stays vertical once it is seated, because a part seated crooked is seen immediately from above.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without a kit of the vehicle. Glue, paints and further parts are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
