The kit captures the Skyline 2000 GT-R sedan with the body code PGC-10, that is the form in which the GT-R sports designation first reached the road. The 1:24 scale is the most widespread for passenger cars, so the finished car will fit right in among the other Japanese types in the display case.
The four-door body came before the later coupe and differed from the ordinary Skyline mainly in its engine. The 2.0-liter inline six had twin overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder and a set of three carburetors; technically it came from a racing design, which made it an exceptionally advanced engine at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s. The angular silhouette of the C10 generation earned the car the nickname Hakosuka and it is still one of the most popular Japanese classics today.
On a sedan from the end of the 1960s the fine window trim and the chrome details deserve attention. They show to best effect when you smooth the body carefully before spraying and lay down a gloss base. The interior is clearly visible through the large glazed area, so it is worth spending time on the instrument panel and the upholstery. Lay the decals onto a gloss surface and seal them with a clear coat at the end.
The set holds unassembled and unpainted plastic parts; the modeler obtains the glue and paints separately.
