The Renault Type AG was a light commercial vehicle of the early 20th century that found wide use as a Paris taxicab. It had the typical layout of its day: a tall ladder frame, a two-cylinder engine with the radiator placed behind it, an open driver's position and an enclosed passenger compartment. Vehicles of this type are remembered mainly for the use of Paris taxicabs to move soldiers to the Marne in the fall of 1914. They remain among the best known European automobiles of the veteran era.
With a car of the veteran era everything stands or falls on the surface. It pays to spray the body over a smooth base and finish it with a gloss coat, while the frame, the fenders and the chassis can take a semi-gloss or even a matte finish so that a contrast appears. Paint the wheels with their thin felloes and spokes separately from the tires; do not make the rubber black, go for a dark gray instead. The small brass and nickel-plated details of the lamps and the radiator stand out once you degrease them and brush on a metallic paint at the end. It is practical to finish the interior and the seats before the body is closed up.
