The Prince Skyline 2000GT with the chassis code S54 was created at the Japanese car maker Prince, which merged with Nissan in the second half of the 1960s. An inline six-cylinder engine of two liters fitted into an otherwise civilian sedan, and a family car suddenly became a rival that had to be reckoned with on the circuits. The model captures the racing car with race number 39 from the Japanese Grand Prix of 1964.
Fujimi offers it as a plastic kit in 1:24 scale. That size is the most widespread for car models and leaves enough room for a worked-out interior and chassis. The model comes as a set of parts to be assembled and painted.
Separate the parts with sharp cutters a little way from the part and level the remaining stub with a fine file. Before painting, wash the body in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap and let it dry completely. Apply the paint and the clear in thin coats, or they will pool in the edges and wipe the fine detail away. Apply any decals only onto a smooth gloss surface; on a flat clear a white veil forms under them. Place the race numbers and the additional markings according to the side view in the instructions, so that they sit at the same height on both sides.
The set suits modelers with a taste for circuit racing of the 1960s and collectors of Japanese cars. Paints, glue and other building materials are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
