The real subject

A show girl at the starting grid or by a car on display belongs to the car world just as much as a mechanic with a wrench. On a model she moreover has a practical job: a human figure is the only scale the viewer knows by heart, so beside her a model of a car gains its real size at once and stops coming across as a toy.

What the figure offers

This is a female character in 1:24 scale, marked within the line with the letter E, which sets the individual forms apart. It will stand beside a model of a passenger or racing car, in a diorama from the paddock and on its own in a display case next to a finished build. Building and painting tips

Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down, then wash and degrease the figure. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts. Begin painting with the skin and only then set about the clothing; the opposite order is hard to correct, because overruns on the skin show the most. Work in thin coats, so that the paint does not flood the fine edges of the folds. Build the hair up with a dark base and a light lightening of the upper strands. Do not overdo the eyes: in 1:24 scale it is enough to suggest a dark line, as the whole white of the eye with an iris comes across as unnatural.
