The Toyota Mark II is a roomy Japanese upper-mid-size sedan that was sold on the home market in a long line of trims and engines. The GT Grande Twincam 24 version stood at the sportier end of the range: at Toyota the Twincam 24 badge was carried by engines with twin overhead camshafts and twenty-four valves. The model captures exactly this version, a car that looks like a company sedan from the outside but is closer to driving than you would expect.
It is a plastic kit in 1:24 scale, the most widespread size for car models. The model is supplied as a set of parts to assemble and paint and it leaves plenty of room for a detailed interior and chassis.
Cut the parts off with sharp sprue cutters a little away from the part and level the remaining nub with a fine file or a sanding sponge. Wash the body in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap before painting and let it dry completely, otherwise the paint will not hold. Apply the color in several thin coats and polish it once it has dried; a smooth gloss suits a sedan of the 1980s best of all. Either line in the straight black window frames with a fine brush, or mask the surroundings with tape and spray the color on.
The set suits collectors of Japanese sedans as well as modelers who care about clean paint on large flat panels. Paints, glue and other building material are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
