The open two-seat Toyota MR-S S Edition roadster with a mid-mounted engine; a kit in 1:24 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MR-S is a lightweight roadster of the turn of the millennium that rode the wave of interest in simple open cars. The letters in the name refer to the layout with the engine mounted ahead of the rear axle, while the S Edition tag marks one particular version of the range. The model therefore captures a modern Japanese sports car, not a classic from the last century.
The subject was built on low weight and a balanced chassis, not on high power. A four-cylinder engine of around two liters drove the rear wheels, the roof was fabric and the interior was cut back to the essentials. It was exactly this simplicity that made the car a favorite choice for drivers who wanted driving fun without needless electronics, and it still has a strong community of enthusiasts today.
An open body means that absolutely everything in the cockpit is visible, so the seats, the dashboard and the center tunnel deserve careful finishing. The rounded shapes of the nose benefit from light, saturated shades; they show to best effect once the clear coat has been polished. If you are planning the roof up, think it through before you start gluing the interior.
This is not a built miniature but a set of parts waiting to be assembled.
