An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern Toyota taxi with the chassis designation NTP10 in the hybrid pattern, which in Hong Kong is sold under the name Comfort Hybrid. The model captures the vehicle of the 2018 model year in 1:24 and is built by the Japanese maker Aoshima. The distinguishing item of this kit is exactly the market and the pattern of the vehicle, because the same basic type is sold in a domestic Japanese form as well. Aoshima reissues its kits, so other releases of close patterns may exist.
This is a purpose-built taxi vehicle, not a modified production model. The body has a high roof, large sliding doors on the passenger side and a low floor, so that getting in is easy even with bulkier luggage. The power comes from a hybrid system combined with running on liquefied petroleum gas, which on taxi vehicles is a solution aimed at long daily mileage and low running costs. In Hong Kong it is a right-hand-drive vehicle used in ordinary taxi service, where the vehicles of the individual service areas run in distinguishing company liveries.
On a taxi vehicle it is a clean single-color finish and exactly applied lettering that decide. Spray the body with filler primer, apply the paint with an airbrush in thin coats and prepare a gloss base under the decals. Mask the extensive glazing before painting and glue it with a glue that is gentle on clear plastic. The interior of a taxi is rewarding for details such as the driver's partition, the upholstery and the fittings of the dashboard, and it comes out better in subdued shades. Very fine weathering on the sills, the wheels and the lower edge of the bumper gives the vehicle the sense of everyday service.
